A symbol of protection and life to the Iskonawa Community
Cerro El Cono, a mysterious peak rises majestically from the depths of the Amazon rainforest. This geological wonder is nestled in a region famed for its exceptional biodiversity and home to several un-contacted Indigenous tribes.
Located near the city of Pucallpa in eastern Peru, Cerro El Cono rises close to the Ucayali River, a crucial tributary that feeds into the mighty Amazon River.
The mountain’s pyramid-like shape is more than just a visual marvel; it holds deep spiritual meaning. Local Indigenous communities honor Cerro El Cono as an Andean Apu, a revered guardian spirit of the mountains.
This belief, rooted in the ancient traditions of Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia, has been passed down since the time of the Inca Empire. The Apus are thought to protect the people of the land, offering guidance and safeguarding the natural world.
